The National Highway Authority (NHA) is planning on launching an Intelligent Transport System (ITS) on the Abdul Hakeem-Lahore Motorway according to press release that briefed the media about the session that was presided over by the NHA Chairman Jawwad Rafique Malik.
Abdul Basit and Chief Executive of China Railway 20 Co. Pakistan Private Limited Li Jieyong had briefed the meeting where they informed the attendants that a speedy completion of the said motorway is underway.
They also stated that they are employing the latest digital system for the project. According to them, the system involves handling emergencies, lane marking, controlling traffic accidents, placement of LED screens, weigh station system, electronic toll collection, and optic fiber installation. Moreover, the project is to entail maximum civic and traveling facilities at the service areas, along with cameras to monitor the high-speed vehicles.

The digital system is to be implemented at all the motorways. The system is to serve as a huge step in turning Lahore into the first smart city of Pakistan. Furthermore, the ITS will also be used for road safety and efficient infrastructure usage.
