It was rumoured in April that Facebook, the social media behemoth, would be launching its own podcast platform soon. Now, the corporation has confirmed that podcasts will be available on its platform next week, on Tuesday.
According to The Verge, Facebook has sent out letters to podcast creators informing them of the launch of a new podcast page on June 22. Users will be able to listen to podcasts directly on Facebook pages and through a new “Podcasts” option, which is not yet live, according to the email.
“To assist them (users) find your work, we can add a new tab to your Page that will display your podcasts,” Facebook said in an email posted by The Verge. Nothing has to be uploaded or linked to. As new episodes become available, your Page will be updated with them. You can also withdraw or unpublish your podcast at any time.”
Facebook will allow users to set up an RSS feed to a podcast on the website, similar to Apple podcasts, Spotify, and other services. New episodes will be immediately added to the podcast once it has been approved.

Aside from pages and a tab for podcasts, Facebook will introduce “Bits,” a feature that will allow artists to upload tiny chunks of an episode anywhere on the social network, to help them sell their work.
