NayaPay has announced the launch of global QR payments through a new partnership with Ant International’s Alipay+ wallet gateway, marking a major expansion of its international payment capabilities. The collaboration gives NayaPay users the ability to make payments at Alipay+ merchants in more than 50 countries by simply scanning a QR code. The service is aimed at improving convenience for Pakistani travellers and linking them to sectors such as retail, dining, public transport, healthcare and entertainment when abroad. According to the company, this addition connects Pakistani users to a wider network of international payment acceptance, reducing friction and enabling transactions to be processed with fewer steps and lower associated costs. Alipay+ is linked to 40 international mobile payment partners and supports over 150 million merchants worldwide, offering significant reach for consumers relying on mobile based transactions.
The company said the new capability will operate alongside its existing financial services portfolio, which already includes Visa debit cards, local and international transfers, bill payments and home remittances. By extending support for QR payments on a global scale, NayaPay aims to give its users a more seamless experience when handling foreign transactions. This development is particularly suited to Pakistani customers who travel frequently for education, employment or leisure and prefer using familiar payment tools rather than navigating unfamiliar financial systems in other countries. With QR based payments widely adopted across Asia and other regions, NayaPay expects the feature to integrate smoothly into the existing habits of many travellers who are already accustomed to mobile payments at home.
NayaPay Chief Executive Officer Danish A. Lakhani said the company’s objective with this launch is to build confidence among Pakistani consumers making payments abroad. He emphasised that global QR acceptance brings clarity and simplicity to users who need to manage expenses while travelling. Lakhani added that enabling cross border payments through QR technology helps reduce the burden associated with traditional financial processes, particularly where currency conversion and verification steps tend to slow down transactions. He described the feature as a meaningful expansion of the platform’s services for users who seek affordable, straightforward digital payment methods outside Pakistan.
Pan Yan, Head of the Strategic Partnership Office for Alipay+, noted that the partnership aligns with the platform’s focus on improving cross border digital payments. She said mobile payment solutions are reshaping how travellers interact with merchants in global markets, making transactions more accessible and familiar regardless of location. According to her, the collaboration will allow Pakistani users to depend on a payment ecosystem they already trust while exploring new destinations. She highlighted that the aim of Alipay+ is to create an environment where mobile wallets from different countries can operate smoothly across shared merchant networks, reducing barriers for consumers who prefer digital payments over cash based transactions.
NayaPay’s introduction of global QR capabilities positions the company within a broader push toward inclusive digital finance in Pakistan. As more fintech platforms enter cross border services, mobile payment solutions continue to evolve to meet the needs of users travelling internationally. The collaboration with Alipay+ reflects this trend by offering a structured approach to mobile based financial transactions that prioritises ease, reach and cost efficiency.
