On Monday, 29th May 2017 around 9 AM, the national carrier aka Pakistan International Airline’s (PIA) IT systems faced a major malfunction that had adverse effects on the schedules of numerous flights.

PIA’s operations came to a standstill and the failure delayed numerous flights and also delayed the process of many bookings from being made. However, according to PIA officials there is no confirmation as to what caused the disturbance.

According to some sources the system failure was similar to British Airway’s hacking troubles over the past week, when the airline was hit by a worldwide computer system failure on Saturday. The error had caused cancellations and delays for thousands of passengers as about 60% of the British Airway flights were cancelled from the Heathrow Airport.
