Sports and racing game enthusiasts have several exciting releases to look forward to in 2026, beyond the familiar annualized titles from EA and 2K. While fans can always expect new installments of long-running sports franchises, this year offers a more varied lineup, particularly for racing game fans who have both returning and new high-speed, sci-fi experiences to anticipate. The combination of established franchises and innovative concepts ensures that players may find some unexpected surprises in the months ahead.

Among the most highly anticipated racing titles is Forza Horizon 6, set to release on PC and Xbox Series X/S, with reports pointing to an early 2026 launch. Following the enormous success of Forza Horizon 5, this next installment looks poised to expand on its predecessor’s achievements. Although the Tokyo Game Show 2025 reveal was somewhat overshadowed by prior leaks, Playground Games’ latest title promises to offer expansive locations, immersive gameplay, and enhancements that racing fans have come to expect. The game’s return to Japan as a featured location adds a fresh visual and cultural dimension to the series, making it one of the most closely watched releases of the year.

Mario Tennis Fever is set to arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 on February 12, 2026, and represents Nintendo’s latest entry in the arcade-style sports genre. Mario’s sports titles have historically ranged from highly engaging to more casual experiences, and fans are hoping this installment captures the playful, competitive energy of previous successes. While Mario Tennis Aces did not achieve the same level of excitement as other Mario sports games, Mario Tennis Fever could offer a more replayable and fun experience, particularly for multiplayer sessions with friends. Nintendo aims to deliver an accessible yet competitive experience that continues the series’ legacy of engaging arcade sports gameplay.

Science fiction and arcade racing fans also have several notable entries to watch, including Star Wars: Galactic Racer, Exo Rally Championship, and Golf With Your Friends 2. Star Wars: Galactic Racer, developed by Fuse Games, brings together talent from former Need for Speed and Burnout teams to deliver futuristic racing in a Star Wars setting, creating significant anticipation among franchise fans. Exo Rally Championship, an off-road arcade racer from Exbleative, maintains its status as a standout title after being highlighted as an anticipated game in 2025, with expectations that it will release before the end of 2026. Finally, Golf With Your Friends 2 brings back chaotic multiplayer mini-golf fun, aiming to capture the streaming and multiplayer audience that helped sustain the original game’s popularity over the last decade. Together, these titles create a diverse mix of racing and sports experiences that promise to engage players across multiple platforms throughout 2026.
