Science and Technology Minister Elected as Chairperson Of COMSATS Committee

Fawad Chaudhry, Federal Minister for Science and Technology, has been elected as the chairperson of the Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South (COMSATS) consultative committee.

 The Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South is an inter-governmental organization, having a membership of 25 developing countries and one non-state member from three continents, Latin America, Africa and Asia. The organization aims at sustainable socio-economic uplift of the developing countries through appropriate applications of science and technology using the approach of South-South cooperation. In an effort to further grow the company and take it into a new direction, COMSATS have elected Fawad Chaudhry as the chairperson of the COMSATS consultative committee.

Fawad Hussain Chaudhry currently serves as the Federal Minister for Science and Technology in Pakistan. The organization has elected the current minister to ensure as a way to further develop the current workings of the organization to ensure maximum support and benefaction to the program can be provided. Moreover, this will also stimulate undertakings of an inter-governmental and international organization. As soon as the appointment was made for the position, the minister of science and technology went on to add that COMSATS is widely known as a popular and effective medium for the promotion and development of Sciences in the areas of Asia. Moreover, locally, this can be used as a way to promote education in Science as well as sustainable development by developing cooperation between states.

Currently, the Consultative Committee consists of 27 national scientific areas of COMSATS Member States. The Committee consults in matters relating to the formulation of general policy of the Network, upgradation of Member countries institutions etc. Moreover, Hon Nana AddoDankwaAkufo-Addois the 13th and current president of the Republic of Ghana and COMSATS respectively.Dr.S M Junaid Zaidi, HI, SI, the founder Rector of COMSATS University, is currently the Executive of COMSATS. The goal is to help them achieve full member status of the Network and towards the specific requirements and Improvements on science and technology at national, regional and international levels.
