The Punjab government has collaborated with Microsoft and Google in order to foster computer programming skills in children. According to sources, the tech giants have been invited to the country and will be setting up a platform that will enable students in the region to be certified.
Speaking on the occasion, the Punjab Education Minister Murad Raas, on a TV talk show, said that he is in touch with the two companies and hopes that children in grades 9 and 10 will soon be able to acquire Google and Microsoft certifications.
Furthermore, Raas speaking about the arrival of the delegation said that he had met with Google and Microsoft while on a trip to London and had officially invited them to the country. The two tech giants are expected to arrive in the summer of 2019.
According to him, “The new world is driven by technology, so in grade 9 and 10, let’s offer them software development courses. If a child drops out of school after grade 10, they can walk into an office with nothing else except a Microsoft certification.”
