Meezan Bank, a leading Islamic financial institution in Pakistan, has recently introduced its Foreign Currency (FCY) Debit Card, a new financial product designed specifically for exporters and freelancers who hold an Exporters’ Special Foreign Currency Account (ESFCA) with the bank. This new offering, powered by Mastercard, aims to facilitate international transactions and provide an efficient way for its users to manage their finances across borders.

The FCY Debit Card allows cardholders to make retail purchases globally, withdraw cash from Mastercard-enabled ATMs, and carry out cross-border payments seamlessly without requiring approval from the central bank. This functionality is especially valuable for businesses and freelancers engaged in international trade, as it simplifies transactions, reduces time delays, and eliminates the need for complicated paperwork often involved in traditional payment methods.

A standout feature of the card is its Near Field Communication (NFC) capability, which enables cardholders to make contactless payments at retail outlets, offering a faster and more convenient way to pay for goods and services. With this feature, cardholders can complete transactions with just a tap, providing a modern, hassle-free payment experience.

Additionally, the FCY Debit Card offers real-time expense tracking, which helps users stay on top of their spending. The built-in tool allows cardholders to monitor their transactions, view balances, and gain insights into their financial activities. This feature is particularly beneficial for freelancers and exporters, who often manage payments in multiple currencies and need to keep a close eye on their cash flow.

Syed Iftikhar ul Haq, the Group Head of Consumer Finance at Meezan Bank, expressed his enthusiasm about the launch, stating, “Whether you’re traveling, shopping online, or conducting business internationally, the FCY Debit Card streamlines the payment process and provides a secure, efficient way to manage transactions across borders, ensuring peace of mind wherever you go.” His comments highlight the card’s global applicability and its role in simplifying the financial operations of its users.

The FCY Debit Card comes just a week after Meezan Bank made headlines for launching the Meezan Visa Student Debit Card, which is being offered free of cost to holders of the Meezan Asaan Student Account. This card is designed to cater to the growing demand for secure and accessible payment solutions among students, further expanding Meezan Bank’s range of financial products tailored to the needs of different customer segments.

With the introduction of the FCY Debit Card, Meezan Bank continues to build on its commitment to providing innovative, customer-focused financial services. This new product is set to enhance the international business operations of its clients, offering them a reliable and modern tool to manage foreign currency transactions while enjoying the convenience and security of Mastercard’s global network.
