The Rausing Executive Development Centre (REDC) at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), in partnership with Zhejiang University in China, is offering a six-day executive immersion programme focused on Chinese business, technology and innovation. The programme is designed to help Pakistani business leaders and senior decision-makers understand how Chinese companies develop competitive advantages through technology adoption, operational efficiency, manufacturing scale and innovation. Scheduled to take place across Hangzhou and Shanghai, the programme provides participants with opportunities to explore two major centres of China’s digital economy and industrial development. Through company visits, expert discussions and faculty-led sessions, participants can examine how Chinese business models operate and consider how relevant practices could be applied within their own organisations. The collaboration also aims to connect China’s industrial and technological capabilities with the strategic priorities of Pakistani businesses and other emerging-market organisations.
The programme focuses on several industries shaping China’s economic and technological development, including artificial intelligence, robotics, electric vehicles, semiconductors, digital platforms, advanced manufacturing and international trade. Participants are expected to gain exposure to companies and innovation centres such as Alibaba, Hikvision, Unitree Robotics, Geely and Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation, alongside visits to the Shanghai Free Trade Zone and Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park. These engagements are intended to provide practical insight into different aspects of business transformation, from digital commerce and cloud services to smart infrastructure, industrial automation and technology-driven vehicle manufacturing. The programme also examines how innovation clusters connect businesses, research institutions and entrepreneurs, helping translate new technologies into commercial applications. The planned visits are complemented by structured discussions to help participants interpret the business models and operational approaches they observe.
The executive learning experience includes faculty-led strategic reflection sessions involving experts from China and Pakistan. Participants will compare business practices, identify patterns in technology adoption and examine how organisations sustain competitiveness in rapidly changing markets. The programme is particularly suited to chief executives, company owners, directors, business unit heads, entrepreneurs and senior professionals responsible for strategy, operations, technology and organisational transformation. Public-sector leaders, regulators and advisers working on economic development and innovation ecosystems are also among the intended participants. The programme is led by Professor Muhammad Shakeel Sadiq Jajja of LUMS, with additional faculty including Professor Yongyi Shou and Professor Ren Qinyuan of Zhejiang University. Their expertise covers strategic management, supply chains, digital operations, intelligent systems, robotics and technology-led industrial development. The itinerary also includes a cultural experience in Shanghai, offering participants an opportunity to explore the city’s heritage alongside its modern business environment.
According to the programme information published by REDC, the fee is PKR 1 million, or approximately US$3,600, excluding applicable taxes. The fee covers tuition, teaching materials, working lunches, a networking dinner, transportation for industry visits and intercity travel between Hangzhou and Shanghai. International airfare, visa processing, accommodation, other dinners, personal expenses and travel insurance are excluded. The programme’s published application deadline was May 31, 2026, while the fee submission deadline was June 20, 2026. However, LUMS’s programme calendar lists the immersion programme for October 26 to 31, 2026, so prospective participants should contact REDC directly to confirm current admission availability and arrangements. By combining company exposure with executive education, the programme aims to help participants develop a clearer understanding of Chinese innovation and identify potential applications for business growth, technology integration and industrial competitiveness in Pakistan.
