Federal Minister for IT & Telecom, Shaza Khawaja, met with Aamir Ibrahim, CEO of Jazz, to discuss the roadmap for Pakistan’s upcoming 5G spectrum auction. The discussion focused on shaping a framework that will define the country’s connectivity future for the next decade. Both sides highlighted the importance of affordable and predictable spectrum to ensure that telecom operators can expand services effectively and support Pakistan’s goal of digital inclusion across all regions.

The meeting emphasized how collaboration between the government and the private sector is critical to accelerating digital transformation. With spectrum allocation being a cornerstone of connectivity, policy direction from the state combined with the investment and innovation of operators like Jazz can help advance nationwide broadband access. By aligning spectrum policy with affordability and future-readiness, the country can bridge its digital divide and strengthen opportunities in education, healthcare, and financial services.

A key aspect of the dialogue was the shared vision of ensuring high-quality, reliable networks that support Pakistan’s ambitions of becoming a digitally inclusive economy. The spectrum auction is expected to lay the groundwork for innovations in fintech, healthtech, edtech, and other digital sectors, creating opportunities for citizens and businesses alike. Shaza Khawaja stressed the importance of designing policies that encourage fair competition while enabling operators to expand their infrastructure, particularly in underserved areas.

Jazz reaffirmed its role as a partner in advancing connectivity and supporting government-led initiatives for Digital Pakistan. Aamir Ibrahim noted that telecom operators remain committed to delivering improved services to customers and contributing to the broader national vision of economic growth powered by digital infrastructure. The conversation reflects a growing recognition that Pakistan’s digital future depends on constructive public-private engagement and timely policy frameworks that unlock the potential of advanced technologies such as 5G.
