Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced that the ongoing disruptions and slowdowns in internet connectivity will be resolved by the end of October.
PTA officials attributed the issues to the installation and upgrade of a web management system (WMS), which is expected to be completed by October 20. They emphasized that the WMS will effectively mitigate cyberattacks, improving the overall stability and reliability of internet services.
The upgrade is anticipated to enhance network capacity by a significant 8 to 9 terabytes. PTA officials noted that the installation of the management system began in 2019 and has been in progress since then.
The frequent internet disruptions and slowdowns have caused significant inconvenience to netizens and remote workers alike. These disruptions have fueled speculation that the government may be implementing internet restrictions through firewalls to control digital media.
However, the PTA has assured the public that the ongoing work is solely focused on improving internet infrastructure and addressing technical challenges.
