According to Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, one of the international underwater cables, the SMW5, has a reported malfunction that has caused internet service degradation throughout the nation (PTA).
Transworld Associates has informed all Internet service providers (ISPs) in Pakistan that an outage has recurred in one of the global upstream networks.
“Our service in Pakistan is currently degrading as a result of the international undersea cable failure SMW5,” the statement continued. Our partners are tackling the problem as a top priority and are anticipated to finish their work soon. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience, Transworld wrote in a note to its Pakistani business partners. Traditional measures to guarantee users’ access to the internet without interruption have so far proven ineffective, severely affecting eastbound traffic.
Due to the increased load, users are also noticing a degradation in PTCL’s network, which could get worse as the load rises. Customers should anticipate to see a decline in internet quality throughout Pakistan. Transworld has not yet provided any details on how long it will take to resolve the problem.
