Indus Motor Unveils 4th Gen Toyota Corolla Cross HEV for Sustainable Driving in Pakistan

Indus Motor Company (IMC) marked a significant milestone in sustainable transportation with the launch of the highly anticipated 4th generation Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV). The unveiling took place at a private ceremony held at IMC’s manufacturing facility in Karachi.

The event was attended by key dignitaries including Federal Secretary of the Ministry of Industries & Production, Asad Rehman Gilani; top leadership from Toyota, Yoshiyuki Takai, President Emerging-market Compact Car Company (ECC) Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) & Executive Vice President (EVP), Engineering Group, Toyota Daihatsu Engineering & Manufacturing CO., Ltd. (TDEM); Yoshihisa Miyabe, General Manager (GM), Motomachi Plant, Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC), and Tetsuya Ezumi, Chief Operating Officer (COO), Toyota Tsusho Corporation. The Japanese Ambassador to Pakistan, Mitsuhiro Wada, was also present.

Mohamedali R. Habib, Chairman of IMC, expressed pride in achieving the “Make in Pakistan” dream, thanking stakeholders for their support. Yoshiyuki Takai highlighted the growing popularity of HEVs in Asian countries and expressed hope that Pakistani customers would appreciate the new Corolla Cross HEV for its efficiency and driving experience.

Asad Rehman Gilani, Federal Secretary of the Ministry of Industries & Production, congratulated IMC on the milestone and emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting hybrid and electric technologies in Pakistan. He stressed the importance of expedited exports to reduce the trade deficit.

Ali Asghar Jamali, CEO of IMC, acknowledged the achievement and the company’s commitment to sustainability. The 4th generation Corolla Cross HEV SUV, with the highest-ever localized content in the SUV category, offers a smooth, high-quality performance and efficiency. It features an 1800 cc engine with options for both Hybrid and gasoline drivetrains.

IMC’s investment of over US$100 million reflects its dedication to local production, contributing significantly to the country’s automobile sector. The company has established a complete value chain, involving over 50 part manufacturers, 55 authorized dealerships, and employing over 450,000 people directly and indirectly across Pakistan.
