Hell Let Loose: Vietnam, first revealed earlier this year at Gamescom 2025, continues to expand interest among fans of tactical shooters as publisher Team17 and developer Expression Games prepare to bring the series into a new historical setting. The title follows the original Hell Let Loose, which was rooted in World War II combat, but now shifts to the Vietnam War environment with a focus on strategic play and large scale encounters. Today the developers released a new gameplay trailer that offers a more detailed view of how battles will unfold. This latest footage moves away from the cinematic showcase displayed at Gamescom and instead highlights actual in engine gameplay, presenting a clearer sense of the experience players can expect when the game arrives.
The trailer features a full scale 50v50 battle taking place across a map designed to represent the unpredictable and shifting engagement style associated with the Vietnam conflict. The developers describe this setting as a war with no front lines, and the gameplay reflects that vision. Players will navigate dense jungle terrain along with more open areas that allow for varied tactical decisions during each match. The trailer provides glimpses of coordinated team movements, combined arms engagements, and the importance of situational awareness. The variety in terrain is central to how each match will play out, offering different possibilities for attack routes, defensive positioning, and coordinated flanking attempts.
Expression Games has confirmed that Hell Let Loose: Vietnam will launch with six maps inspired by different regions and battle conditions of the war. Dense forested environments will demand close quarters coordination while more open clearings create opportunities for longer range engagements and vehicle support. The ability to deploy troops using helicopters introduces a vertical dimension to the tactical landscape, enabling squads to insert at strategic points across the battlefield. Naval elements are also part of the experience, with patrol boats available for river based movement and combat scenarios. For players aligned with North Vietnam forces, a tunnel system will be available as an alternative movement method that allows for surprise attacks and unexpected repositioning, adding to the unpredictability of each engagement with American troops.
While the new trailer offers an extensive view of the game’s mechanics and map design, it does not provide a specific release date. The project is still targeting a 2026 launch window, and the developers indicated in the accompanying press materials that the showcased footage is drawn entirely from in engine gameplay. This may signal that development is progressing steadily toward a final release timeline. Expression Games has also shared that it will continue to support the original Hell Let Loose even after Hell Let Loose: Vietnam becomes available. One notable difference between the two titles is that Vietnam is not expected to enter early access at any stage, unlike the previous entry which began its lifecycle in that format. Instead, the current plan is to release Hell Let Loose: Vietnam as a complete 1.0 product, with the team aiming to deliver a fully featured experience at launch once the 2026 window approaches.
