The Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan in collaboration with PIEAS has announced the launch of the Talent Hunt Programme under the 23rd National Science Talent Contest as part of the STEM Careers initiative. The programme is designed to identify and support young science students across Pakistan by offering them opportunities for advanced training, academic progression, and international exposure in science competitions. The initiative focuses on encouraging early engagement in science subjects and strengthening the academic pipeline for future scientific talent in the country.

Under this programme, selected participants will be eligible for a range of academic and financial benefits, including fully funded training opportunities and participation in international science Olympiads. Students will also have the chance to secure admission in PIEAS and IST without appearing for entrance tests, subject to selection criteria. In addition, the programme offers up to 100 percent fee waivers, monthly scholarships, and cash prizes of up to 500,000 PKR along with certificates of participation and achievement. These incentives are intended to support students in continuing their education in science and technology fields without financial barriers.

The eligibility criteria for the Talent Hunt Programme include current students from pre 9th, 9th, 10th, and 11th grades, including Matric, O Level, or FSC A Level 1 students. Applicants are required to have at least 60 percent marks in science subjects to qualify for participation. The programme aims to reach students at an early academic stage, allowing them to develop their skills in science disciplines through structured training and competitive learning environments. The selection process is designed to identify students with strong academic potential in science related subjects and provide them with opportunities for further development.

The application deadline for the programme has been set for May 30, 2026, and interested students are encouraged to complete their registration through the official portal at stem.edu.pk. The initiative is part of broader efforts under the STEM Careers programme to promote science education and research oriented learning among students across Pakistan. Through this contest and associated training opportunities, HEC Pakistan and PIEAS aim to support the development of a skilled scientific workforce by providing access to educational resources, competitive exposure, and merit based advancement opportunities for young learners.
