The National Incubation Center (NIC) is a first of its kind technology hub launched under the public-private partnership of the Ministry of IT & Telecom, Ignite Fund, Jazz & Teamup. This July on the 28th and 29th NIC is bringing the Hacktivate – A Hackathon for Education.

NIC in partnership with Ilm Ideas 2 aims to connect Pakistan’s tech community with education institutions and organizations in order to tackle important, immediate educational challenges in Pakistan.

The Hacktivate is to be a 48 hour challenge that will provide participants with research and resources, an engaging workspace and advisory and mentorship support from leading experts in the field. Additionally, NIC will be providing an opportunity for the winning team to receive 12 months of incubation at the NIC by qualifying as a startup in its 4th cohort, starting from September 2018.

The selected startup will also get a chance to qualify for the Jazz xlr8 program which will enable the startup to leverage multiple benefits including access to Jazz 55 million + user base.

The Hacktivate aims to capture the attention of university students to those working in corporations and entities and basically anyone who is able to identify and single out the need for change and is willing to strive for this required change is wanted.

The ideas that the hackathon is looking forward to can fall under any of the following categories i.e. Providing Access to Quality Education for All; Assisted Learning for Persons With Disabilities; Increasing Learning Resources; Improving Skills Education and Development; Other – this category covers any idea solving educational problems other than the above.

Registrations for the Hackathon are now open and the last date to apply is: 22nd July 2018.

about
CWPK Legacy
Launched in 1967 internationally, ComputerWorld is the oldest tech magazine/media property in the world. In Pakistan, ComputerWorld was launched in 1995. Initially providing news to IT executives only, once CIO Pakistan, its sister brand from the same family, was launched and took over the enterprise reporting domain in Pakistan, CWPK has emerged as a holistic technology media platform reporting everything tech in the country. It remains the oldest continuous IT publishing brand in the country and in 2025 is set to turn 30 years old, which will be its biggest benchmark and a legacy it hopes to continue for years to come. CWPK is part of the SPIN/IDG Wakhan media umbrella.
