Quick Look: GroupM Pakistan Hosts Digital Day Ecomm Fest 2018

Termed as the industry leaders in the country, GroupM brought back its signature event the GroupM Digital Day, this time around an ECOMM Fest, focusing on the local e-commerce industry in Pakistan and highlighting all aspects of the ecosystem. The two-day event took place on 27th March 2018, at the DHA Golf Club. The strategic partner for the event is Google along with partners, Xaxis and GroupM divisions Mindshare, Maxus, Mediacom, mSIX and ESP Brands.

Day one was the exhibit where all areas of what completes an e-commerce ecosystem were showcasing. From an e-commerce platform, some of the participants included:

  • Daraz
  • Yayvo
  • EZDeals
  • MyGerry’s
  • Bykea
  • Dawaai
  • Foodnerd
  • Telemart

From the payments side, the participating companies included JazzCash and SimSim, whereas for logistics, there was FedEx, BlueEx and from the media, there was DAWN City FM89, Express Digital and Jang Media Group.

Exhibiting companies also included the likes of Fishry, e-commerce arm of digital media agency Bramerz, Xaxis, Convex Interactive, Webiz Media, BlockDos, Tapmad TV, Adaxis, and Sizmek. Throughout the daylong event, the companies showcased their products and services, and the dialogue was mostly on how companies from every industry are utilizing the power of digital, programmatic buying, using big data and analytics for smarter business strategies. Google and YouTube also showcased at the event.

Day two of the event was where GroupM dedicated the Ecomm Fest for trainings. The Digital Maestro Workshop held on the 28th of March was a hands-on learning session involving local and international trainers. The trainers for the workshop included the biggest clients from the industry such as Unilever, Nestle, Pepsi, GSK, and HBL.

The workshop costs Rs. 20,000, and where the participants were provided with training across 6 digital modules as well as a certificate upon completion.

Through the conference, GroupM aimed that all participants gain knowledge of the digital landscape of Pakistan and understand the platforms that are available along with their opportunities and limitations. Furthermore, they also got to learn how to formulate a digital strategy for a given brief. In attendance were brand managers, digital media managers, social media and e-commerce teams of various cross-industry verticals.
