Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja highlighted the importance of digital skills development during a meeting with a delegation of overseas and international students visiting Pakistan under the Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives flagship Mitti Ki Pukaar URAAN Overseas Pakistan Summer Scholars Programme. The delegation included students from leading international universities who participated in an interactive session with the minister focused on Pakistan digital agenda, emerging technologies and the direction of the country’s technology sector. Shaza Fatima said the government is working to expand digital access and accelerate the digitization of economic and administrative systems as part of its broader Digital Nation vision.
During the meeting, the minister outlined several areas where the government is working to develop the country’s digital ecosystem, including digital infrastructure, connectivity and next-generation telecommunications. She highlighted ongoing efforts to improve internet connectivity and expand services based on newer telecom technologies, including the rollout of 4G and future 5G infrastructure.
