Forbes has unveiled its 2026 Top Creators List during the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in France, highlighting the continued growth and influence of the global creator economy. The annual ranking, now in its fifth year, recognizes the 50 highest earning and most influential digital creators across platforms including YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, X, and other social media networks. This year’s list marks a significant financial milestone for the creator industry, as the combined earnings of the featured creators surpassed $1 billion for the first time since Forbes introduced the ranking in 2022. According to Forbes, the creators included in the 2026 list generated a collective $1.02 billion in earnings, representing a 20 percent increase from the $853 million reported in 2025 and an 80 percent rise compared to the $570 million recorded when the ranking debuted four years ago.
The report also highlights the expanding reach of social media creators, whose combined audience now totals 3.6 billion followers worldwide, up from 3.37 billion last year. Forbes noted that creators have increasingly moved beyond traditional social media content and are now playing a larger role across entertainment, advertising, and business sectors. Many have expanded their presence into streaming platforms such as Netflix and Amazon, while others have ventured into film production, live programming, large scale content studios, and national marketing campaigns. The publication observed that creators are no longer attempting to enter mainstream entertainment but have become a major part of it, influencing audience behavior and reshaping how media is produced and consumed. Their growing commercial impact has also strengthened their ability to build businesses, launch products, and create intellectual property that extends well beyond social media platforms.
For the fifth consecutive year, YouTube creator and entrepreneur MrBeast retained the number one position on the Forbes Top Creators List, maintaining a lead that has remained unchallenged since the ranking was first introduced. The 2026 list features a diverse range of digital personalities, including TikTok creators Alix Earle, Charli D’Amelio, Jake Shane, Nara Smith, and Khaby Lame, alongside YouTube figures such as Dhar Mann and Ms. Rachel. Other notable names include comedians Druski and Adam W, as well as entrepreneur and podcaster Steven Bartlett. Forbes also welcomed several newcomers to the ranking this year, including chef and content creator Tineke “Tini” Younger, Love Island USA personality and Skylar Perfume Chief Creative Officer Leah Kateb, School of Hard Knocks cofounder James Dumoulin, and fitness creator Ashton Hall. The ranking methodology evaluates creators using a combination of earnings, entrepreneurial activity, audience size, and engagement performance across platforms.
Commenting on the findings, Forbes Assistant Managing Editor Steven Bertoni said creators continue to leverage their communities, creativity, and entrepreneurial capabilities to shape media, entertainment, and advertising industries. He noted that crossing the $1 billion earnings threshold demonstrates the growing influence of social media personalities in defining the modern media landscape. To celebrate the release of the list, Forbes is hosting a dedicated launch event at Influential Beach during the Cannes Lions Festival in partnership with Lowe’s Creator Network. During the event, Lowe’s Chief Marketing Officer Jen Wilson is expected to introduce a new initiative called Into the Blue, which will allow creators to submit innovative product ideas for potential retail distribution. Applications for the program will remain open until September 1, 2026. Additionally, selected Forbes Top Creators honorees will be featured on digital billboards operated by OUTFRONT across the United States, extending their visibility beyond digital platforms and into public spaces as brands continue to recognize the growing influence of creator led media.
