Federal Minister Highlights Pakistan’s Growing Animation Industry During Meeting with Tencent Delegation

Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication (ITT), Syed Amin-Ul-Haque, has acknowledged the nascent stage of Pakistan’s animation industry while commending its remarkable performance. With the global animation industry valued at approximately $370 billion, Pakistan’s animation sector currently generates an export revenue of around $50 million.

During a meeting with a delegation from Tencent Holdings Ltd, led by Senior Director Public Affairs Singapore, Lih Shuin Goh, the IT Minister emphasized the Ministry of ITT’s commitment to supporting the local animation and game development industry. He informed the delegation about the establishment of an animation studio in collaboration with ISPR at the National Incubation Center (NIC) in Karachi. Additionally, plans are underway to establish a state-of-the-art Center of Excellence (CoE) in Animation in Karachi.

Syed Amin-Ul-Haque assured the delegation of the government’s cooperation and support in advancing the gaming and animation sector in Pakistan. Lih Shuin Goh provided an overview of Tencent Games’ work, highlighting its position as the world’s largest global platform for video game development, publishing, and operations. Tencent Games offers a diverse portfolio of over 140 self-developed and licensed games available in 200 countries and regions. Goh recognized Pakistan’s potential as an important market for Tencent Games.

The meeting was attended by officials including Additional Secretary (Incharge) Ministry of ITT, Mohsin Mushtaq Chandna, Member IT, Syed Junaid Imam, Country Head Tencent Pakistan, Khawar Naeem, and other representatives.
