The National Information Technology Board (NITB) has announced the appointment of Faisal Iqbal Ratyal as its new Chief Executive Officer, signaling a new phase in the organization’s efforts to accelerate Pakistan’s digital transformation. Ratyal, known for his leadership and commitment to advancing public sector innovation, is expected to play a central role in driving forward NITB’s mission of integrating technology-driven solutions across government operations and services.

With his appointment, NITB aims to further strengthen its role as a leading institution under the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT), responsible for implementing e-governance initiatives, developing digital infrastructure, and enhancing service delivery across public departments. Ratyal brings with him a reputation for strategic vision and operational efficiency, qualities that align with the government’s broader Digital Pakistan agenda. His leadership is anticipated to focus on improving citizen services through technology, optimizing digital processes, and fostering greater collaboration between federal and provincial entities.

Over the years, NITB has been instrumental in developing and deploying digital solutions that support various government functions, including online portals, automation tools, and platforms designed to improve transparency and accessibility. Under Ratyal’s leadership, the organization is expected to strengthen its partnerships with public institutions and technology providers to expand the scope of digital initiatives. His role will also involve aligning NITB’s projects with the federal government’s priorities of economic growth, data-driven governance, and innovation in public service delivery.

Ratyal’s appointment comes at a time when Pakistan is accelerating efforts to modernize its digital ecosystem. With the increasing emphasis on cybersecurity, data management, and the development of smart governance models, NITB is set to play an even more critical role in the nation’s digital landscape. The new CEO is expected to lead projects that encourage efficiency, transparency, and accessibility within government systems, while ensuring that the public sector keeps pace with global digital advancements. His vision aligns closely with the government’s objective of fostering a digitally empowered society capable of leveraging technology for sustainable growth and inclusive development.

Faisal Iqbal Ratyal’s leadership marks a renewed commitment to NITB’s mandate of promoting innovation, supporting digital literacy, and delivering technology-based public services. As the organization continues to evolve, his appointment is seen as a step toward enhancing NITB’s capabilities in digital governance and ensuring that Pakistan remains on course toward achieving its digital transformation goals.
