PESHAWAR: Zia Ullah Bangash, Advisor to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Science and Information Technology, and Asad Qaiser, Speaker of the National Assembly, have asked Facebook to start monetizing Pakistan.
According to a statement, the duo met with Facebook’s team via video conference. Representing Facebook were Sarim Aziz, Head of Public Policy South Asia, and Sehar Tariq, Public Policy Manager Pakistan. The meeting focused on issues of mutual interest and bilateral cooperation.
The event also included consultation and consideration of relevant legislation to enable Facebook monetization in Pakistan. Asad Qaiser and Zia Ullah Bangash promised that appropriate legislation would be enacted to create a favourable atmosphere for Facebook monetization to begin.
Asad Qaiser complimented Ziaullah Bangash for his efforts to bring the Digital Pakistan vision to life. His attempts to bring all parties on board, including big tech, particularly Facebook, have been praised. Zia Ullah Bangash said the government was taking steps to empower the youths, reduce unemployment rate by promoting E-commerce.
