Standard Chartered, a renowned banking institution, has taken a major step to enhance user experience and security in its mobile banking app. In response to the occasional inconvenience of One Time Passwords (OTPs) not reaching users via SMS or email, the bank has introduced Offline PINs, eliminating the need for external verification methods.

With Offline PINs now available within the banking app, users no longer have to wait for OTPs or deal with unreliable cellular connections. By using the SC Mobile Key at the login screen, customers can generate their own 6-digit offline PIN instantly.

To ensure continuous protection, the Mobile Key can be set up through SMS-based two-factor authentication. Moreover, the app notifies users when they log in from a different device, streamlining the process of installing the app on new phones.

Currently, the Offline PINs are applicable only for login purposes, with plans to extend their usage to transactions in the future. This feature sets Standard Chartered apart from other apps that frequently require multiple OTPs or PINs throughout their platforms.

To benefit from this enhanced security and convenience, users are encouraged to update their Standard Chartered mobile app through the Google Play Store or Apple’s App Store. With these updates, Standard Chartered strives to provide its valued customers with a seamless and secure banking experience. Embrace the future of banking with Offline PINs in the Standard Chartered app!
