On 23rd October, PASHA CEC Member and Chair of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee, Dr. Sonia Saleem, participated in an evening hosted by British High Commissioner Jane Marriott CMG OBE, centered around discussions on advancing Pakistan’s digital transformation and fostering stronger international collaboration. The event brought together thought leaders, innovators, and policymakers who are actively contributing to shaping Pakistan’s evolving digital ecosystem. It served as a platform for exchanging insights on how collective efforts can drive sustainable growth and inclusive technological progress in the country.

Dr. Saleem, representing PASHA’s commitment to building a more diverse and technologically empowered workforce, highlighted the role of public-private collaboration in accelerating Pakistan’s digital ambitions. She emphasized that the transformation journey requires not only the adoption of advanced technologies but also a focus on inclusivity, capacity building, and equitable access to opportunities for all segments of society. Her participation underscored PASHA’s active involvement in promoting innovation-driven economic growth and supporting initiatives that enable Pakistan’s technology sector to expand globally.

During the evening, British High Commissioner Jane Marriott reaffirmed the United Kingdom’s continued interest in deepening ties with Pakistan across the digital, educational, and entrepreneurial sectors. The discussions touched upon emerging opportunities in areas such as AI adoption, women’s participation in tech, upskilling programs, and cross-border partnerships that can help strengthen Pakistan’s position in the regional innovation landscape. Attendees also shared insights on how global cooperation can facilitate investment in Pakistan’s growing IT and services sectors, opening new avenues for collaboration between public institutions, startups, and international partners.

The gathering served as an important reminder of the shared vision between Pakistan and the United Kingdom in promoting digital inclusion and sustainable technological development. It provided a platform for meaningful dialogue on aligning global expertise with local priorities to foster innovation and skill development. Dr. Saleem’s presence reflected PASHA’s ongoing dedication to advocating diversity within the tech ecosystem and ensuring that Pakistan’s digital future is inclusive, forward-thinking, and globally connected.

The event’s atmosphere was marked by thoughtful conversations and a sense of optimism about Pakistan’s digital journey. It reinforced the value of continued engagement between stakeholders who share a common goal of leveraging technology for social and economic advancement. As the country continues to strengthen its digital infrastructure and innovation capacity, collaborations such as this highlight the importance of shared commitment and mutual support in driving progress for Pakistan’s technology sector.
