The General Directorate of Customs Valuation Karachi has enhanced the customs values of Chinese-origin mobile phone accessories in order to accurately evaluate duties and taxes at the import stage.

The directorate has issued valuation ruling 1580 of 2021, which replaces the previous ruling 1448 of 2020.

Customs values in US dollars ranging from $0.06 to $7 will be charged by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on the import of various types of mobile phone accessories. The minimal customs values have been established based on the type of accessory and its place of origin. On Thursday, the directorate notified all Model Customs Collectorates (MCCs) of the new regulation.

After completing a full market survey and hearing from stakeholders/importers, the directorate has re-determined the values under section 25-A of the Customs Act 1969. For clearance under the WEBCO system, the directorate has additionally assigned new Pakistan Customs Tariff (PCT) categories to each accessory of a mobile phone.

The FBR has divided mobile phone accessories into three groups and produced three new value tables: Category-A (16 items), Category-B (15 items), and Category-C (20 items) (10 items).

The FBR separated cellphone accessories into three categories and created three new value tables: Category-A (16 items), Category-B (15 items), and Category-C (20 items) (10 items).

The court further stated that the values of Apple brand and official partner mobile phone accessories are available on the Apple website. For an appropriate evaluation of tariffs at the import stage, customs personnel should use the aforementioned webpage.
