Crimson Desert, developed by Pearl Abyss, offers an expansive open-world experience where the main campaign represents only a small fraction of the total content. In a recent interview with Destin Legarie, PR Director Will Powers explained that while the exact length of the game varies depending on player approach, there is an abundance of activities beyond the central storyline. Powers emphasized that the game encourages exploration and engagement with side quests, crafting, and various in-game systems, allowing players to immerse themselves in the world at their own pace.

According to Powers, the game’s design is intentionally flexible, accommodating players with different schedules and skill levels. Rather than setting strict progression requirements, Crimson Desert allows users to advance through time investment and strategic gameplay. Powers shared that he personally spent around 50 hours on side content alone, including crafting, weapon upgrades, and testing game mechanics, without even exploring some activities such as fishing. This approach ensures that both casual and dedicated players can enjoy meaningful progression, whether they choose to focus on the main campaign or explore optional content.

One of the standout features of Crimson Desert is the richness of its world-building. Powers explained that even after completing the main story, players will discover unvisited areas, incomplete faction quest lines, and opportunities for deep customization. The game offers a wide variety of systems that reward continued engagement, from character and equipment upgrades to resource gathering and strategic encounters. Pearl Abyss has crafted the environment to promote curiosity and sustained exploration, allowing players to experience thousands of hours of content if they fully immerse themselves in the game’s mechanics and side activities.

Powers also highlighted that the game balances challenge and accessibility, providing a consistent difficulty level across all enemies. Players are encouraged to tackle obstacles through skill, strategy, or persistence, making the experience rewarding for both highly skilled gamers and those who prefer a more methodical approach. By emphasizing open-world design, immersive mechanics, and diverse activities, Crimson Desert delivers an experience that extends far beyond the main campaign, offering a world that continuously unfolds with exploration, strategy, and player-driven progression. The game’s combination of narrative depth, side content, and customization underscores Pearl Abyss’ commitment to creating a dynamic environment that keeps players engaged long after the credits roll.
