COMSATS Gets Funding For Projects By PSF MSRT

The Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) -Iranian Ministry of Science, Research and Technology (MSRT) recently opened the call for joint research proposals and projects for funding from academia across Pakistan.

Through a rival review procedure the assessment committee has selected the top 10 projects for funding under PSF and MSRT. It is reported that COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) has successfully managed to secure four projects out of the 10 among other top research universities of Pakistan.

The joint researches are related to Material Sciences & Metallurgy, Climate Smart Agriculture & Biotechnology, Economic Utilizations of Marine Resources, Textile Engineering and Value Addition, Wind Energy & Ways of Its Implementation, Earthquake Forecasting Services, Solar Energy and Ways of Its Implementation, Water Scarcity In Close Future & Its Relation To Food Scarcity, Air Pollution, Saving Endangered Species of Plants, Animals and Insects.

COMSATS Rector Professor Dr. Raheel Qamar speaking on the occasion congratulated the project winning research groups and emphasized the role of research on everyday lives of Pakistanis.

According to him, “Pakistani academia must ensure that the fruits of research should reach every Pakistani and that the academia must also play its due role in creating a knowledge-economy in Pakistan.”
