The Cabinet Committee on State-Owned Enterprises (CCoSOEs) convened today under the leadership of Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb to address critical issues pertaining to public sector entities.

A key decision from the meeting was the approval of proposals from the Finance and Power Divisions regarding the appointment of independent directors and a chairman for the Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) and the National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC), respectively. These appointments are expected to bolster the leadership of these vital state-owned enterprises.

Furthermore, the committee delved into a proposal presented by the Ministry of Housing and Works concerning the Pakistan Housing Authority – Foundation (PHA-F). After careful consideration, the committee categorized PHA-F as an essential entity, underscoring its importance in the national housing agenda. However, the ministry has been directed to submit a revised plan for PHA-F for further evaluation by the committee.

The meeting was attended by key cabinet members including the Ministers of Housing & Works, Maritime Affairs, Power, and Law & Justice, as well as senior officials from the Planning Commission, State Bank of Pakistan, and Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan.

The decisions made at this meeting are anticipated to have a significant impact on the performance and governance of the concerned state-owned enterprises.
