With the outbreak of coronavirus in Pakistan every province is fighting in their way. The first positive case of coronavirus in Pakistan was in Sindh, as the outbreak multiplied with time, Chief Minister of Sindh Murad Ali Shah ordered for lockdown in cities including Karachi.
The chief minister of Balochistan Jan Kamal directed the authorities of the relevant department to provide a dashboard by computerizing the relief operation and safety equipment data to make the government efforts transparent in fighting against the pandemic.
“There is a need for digitalization for ensuring good governance in Balochistan. The provincial cabinet has decided to establish a provincial data center,” Kamal said.
He as chairing a meeting to review relief work and distribution of personal protective equipment (PPE) among health staff and doctors at Sheikh Zaid Hospital, BMC Hospital, and Fatima Jinnah Chest Hospital.
The meeting also covered the situation of coronavirus in Balochistan and expressed the concern of local transmission of the virus.
Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Director-General Imran Zarkoon briefed CM about the safety kit and its distribution among the doctors and health professionals. The safety materials including masks, PPE kits, and gloves are scrutinized by health experts before they are being distributed.
In Pakistan-Iran border 50 containers were dispatched at Taftan. Communication and Works department installed them at the border town to quarantine people and infections who are exposed to the virus.
“We have prepared 100 additional containers while 200 more would be prepared to ensure healthcare and isolation wards at the Taftan border. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has pledged to send 900 containers to Balochistan.”
He further addressed the for pilgrims they will establish a container city providing all residential facilities.on Friday, 1500 more testing kits would arrive in Quetta which would double the testing capacity of Balochistan.
The meeting has directed the Finance Department to release Rs515 million as the allowance for paramedics. The government has also decided to publish vacant doctors’ posts.
The CM said: “Instead of replying to negative propaganda against the government, we should focus on provincial issues particularly on the COVID-19 challenge.”
Kamal directed the health department to utilize services of more expertise to remove flaws and ensure quality healthcare in Balochistan.
