Gamer released a new title, Borderlands 4, which became available on August 1, 2025, and players purchasing or pre-ordering the game on the Epic Games Store can now unlock an exclusive Mad Moxxi skin set for use in Fortnite. The offer runs until September 12, 2026, and is not available for purchases made through other platforms.

For those who prefer not to buy Borderlands 4 through the Epic Games Store, the skin will be available in Fortnite’s in-game item shop starting September 29, 2025, at 8 p.m. Eastern Time. Players will have until October 6, 2025, to purchase it before it rotates out. This gives a wider player base the opportunity to own the cosmetic without committing to the full game purchase.

Early reactions from the community have been varied, with some excited about the skin’s design but unable to access it right away due to hardware limitations. One player noted, “The skin looks good. Unfortunately my computer can’t run Borderlands 4 so looks like I’ll be waiting two months.” Others echoed the sentiment, suggesting it made more sense to wait for the Fortnite shop release rather than spending the full game price solely for early skin access.

Some players shared that they were able to secure the bundle at a reduced cost using Epic Rewards credit, making the purchase more appealing. “Skin looks really cool and I got it for like $20, which it would’ve been around that price in vbucks to get the skin set,” one comment read. Another pointed out that waiting until the end of September “isn’t so bad” compared to buying the full game for a cosmetic item.

A few fans expressed interest in potential future updates, such as adding cel-shaded styles for characters like Psycho and Claptrap, or introducing a one-handed variant for the Buzz Axe. These ideas reflect a desire for more creative customization within the game’s crossover content.

Other players said they were happy to wait, citing both financial and practical reasons. “One, my computer can’t run Borderlands 4. Two, I don’t want to repeat my mistake of buying a game at full price and seeing it discounted soon after. Three, I’m not in a rush when the cosmetic will be in the shop later,” a player explained.

While the exclusive early access is a bonus for those on Epic Games Store, the upcoming Fortnite shop release ensures the Mad Moxxi skin set will be accessible to a larger audience. The approach has sparked discussion on pricing, platform exclusivity, and timing of in-game cosmetics, but anticipation for the skin remains high among fans of both franchises.
