The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Lahore has decided to replace traditional paper marking centers with an online paper marking system for upcoming examinations. The new system is aimed at making the examination evaluation process faster, more convenient and more accurate for both examiners and the board itself.
BISE Lahore Chairman Professor Badr-ul-Islam said the on-screen marking system will be introduced from the second annual examinations. Under the new system, examiners will be able to check students’ answer sheets online from their homes instead of traveling to physical marking centers, marking a significant shift from the board’s traditional evaluation process.
According to the chairman, the digital system will help reduce marking errors while saving examiners’ travel time. It is also expected to make the process of handling rechecking complaints more efficient, addressing a recurring source of friction between students and examination boards during result season. Candidates will also be able to submit their admission forms online, further simplifying the broader examination process beyond marking alone.
Professor Badr-ul-Islam said improved monitoring contributed to better Grade 9 results this year, and expressed hope that the introduction of digital paper checking will further improve the quality, transparency and efficiency of examinations conducted by BISE Lahore. The move marks another step toward digitizing examination services and reducing reliance on traditional paper based processes within Punjab’s education system.
