Bank of Khyber has entered into a strategic partnership with Wateen Telecom Limited to enhance its digital infrastructure through the deployment of a centralized Wi-Fi solution integrated with an advanced Web Application Firewall. The agreement was signed by Rashid Zaman Khan, Chief Information Officer, and Syed Muhammad Jafar, Head of IT Operations, on behalf of Bank of Khyber, while Adil Rashid, Chief Executive Officer, and Nasir Mahmood, Vice President, represented Wateen Telecom.

Under the partnership, Wateen Telecom will implement a centralized wireless network across Bank of Khyber offices, providing secure, reliable, and high performance connectivity across the bank’s branch network. The integrated security solution is intended to safeguard the bank’s internet facing applications and digital banking platforms against evolving cyber threats, adding a further layer of protection to its technology infrastructure and operational resilience.

The collaboration reflects Bank of Khyber’s ongoing commitment to digital transformation through strategic technology investments aimed at improving efficiency, strengthening cyber resilience, and elevating the customer experience. The bank described the partnership as another step in its journey toward building a secure, agile, and future ready banking ecosystem capable of supporting sustainable growth and continued innovation.

For Wateen Telecom, the agreement adds to a series of infrastructure partnerships the company has built across Pakistan’s telecommunications and financial sectors, including its recent collaboration with Transworld Associates to expand the country’s fiber and submarine cable connectivity. As Pakistani banks continue to modernize their digital infrastructure to meet rising cybersecurity and connectivity demands, partnerships between financial institutions and telecom infrastructure providers like this one reflect a broader trend toward outsourcing specialized network and security capabilities rather than building them entirely in house.
