The Center of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence at Bahria University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Metropole Laboratories Private Limited, marking the start of a strategic partnership focused on advancing artificial intelligence applications in healthcare. The agreement was signed on July 16, 2026 by Dr Sumaira Kausar, Director of the Center of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence at Bahria University, and Najam Farooq, Director of Metropole Laboratories Private Limited.
The partnership is intended to bring together academic research capacity at Bahria University with Metropole Laboratories’ position in diagnostic and laboratory services, with the aim of translating artificial intelligence research into applications relevant to real world healthcare delivery. Initiatives coming out of similar academia industry collaborations in Pakistan have typically focused on areas such as diagnostic support tools, data driven clinical workflows, and predictive health analytics, though specific project details under this agreement were not disclosed at the time of signing.
The initiative was coordinated by Dr Joddat Fatima, with additional support from Dr Nadia Sultan and Dr Faryal Nosheen, whose contributions were credited with helping bring the collaboration to fruition. Officials from the Center of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence said the university remains committed to fostering partnerships that translate academic research into practical solutions, framing the agreement as a contribution to both healthcare technology development and the broader growth of Pakistan’s artificial intelligence ecosystem.
The agreement adds to a growing pattern of academia industry partnerships across Pakistan’s technology sector, as universities increasingly seek formal collaborations with private companies to move research from laboratories into applied, commercially relevant use cases.
