Apple is expected to maintain its $599 entry price point for iPhones with the upcoming launch of the iPhone 17e, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. In his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman reported that the device is due imminently and will carry the same starting price as the iPhone 16e. This signals Apple’s intention to keep its most affordable iPhone within reach of a broader audience, even as flagship models continue to move higher in price.

The timing of the iPhone 17e aligns with Apple’s established upgrade cycle for its lower-cost models. With nearly a year having passed since the introduction of the iPhone 16e, a successor is expected as part of Apple’s broader iPhone 17 lineup. Gurman noted that Apple is introducing several meaningful upgrades this time around, including MagSafe charging support and the A19 chip, the same processor used in the standard iPhone 17. This marks a notable step forward for the entry-level model, which previously lagged behind in both performance and features. In addition to the new processor, the iPhone 17e is also expected to feature Apple’s latest in-house cellular and wireless chips, further reducing the company’s reliance on third-party suppliers and improving integration across its hardware ecosystem.

Apple’s previous budget focused model received mixed reactions, particularly due to its camera limitations. In reviews of the iPhone 16e, critics highlighted that its imaging capabilities felt underwhelming, especially when compared to the standard iPhone released shortly afterward. While camera performance is not expected to match Apple’s premium devices, the combination of a newer chip, improved charging technology, and updated connectivity could make the iPhone 17e a more compelling option at the same price point. At $599, the device is expected to compete directly with alternatives such as Google’s Pixel 10a, which traditionally targets similar buyers looking for strong performance at a lower cost.

According to Gurman, Apple is positioning the iPhone 17e with a clear focus on emerging markets and enterprise customers. These segments place a higher emphasis on reliability, long-term software support, and performance consistency rather than premium materials or advanced camera systems. While Apple faces intense competition in overseas markets from local Android manufacturers, the company has recently seen a recovery in iPhone sales in China. Apple is also projecting solid demand across Asia, with China and India highlighted as key growth regions. By keeping the entry price unchanged while offering internal upgrades, Apple appears to be reinforcing its strategy of expanding market share without diluting its pricing structure.

The iPhone 17e’s expected feature set reflects a careful balance between cost control and meaningful improvements. Rather than repositioning the device as a flagship alternative, Apple seems intent on offering a dependable, modern iPhone experience for users who want access to the latest processor and ecosystem features without moving into higher price brackets. If the reported details hold, the iPhone 17e could play a significant role in Apple’s global sales strategy for 2026, particularly in price sensitive markets where brand trust and long-term value remain decisive factors.
