All CNICs will be converted to digital wallets by NADRA in the near future

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has begun the process of converting all citizens’ computerised national identification cards (CNICs) into digital wallets.
The project is part of the federal government’s Digital Pakistan strategy, and NADRA is exploring making the vision a reality as an upgrade to an existing mobile application.
Chairman NADRA, Tariq Malik, stated in this respect that NADRA has released ‘Pak Identity,’ and that the digital wallet idea will be published as an upgrade to this programme.
By enabling remote identification and electronically knowing your customer, it will allow contactless banking, enhance financial inclusion, improve ease of doing business, and assist e-governance activities.

Furthermore, the action will assist to revolutionise the national ID ecosystem by assuring public convenience and will be a huge step toward permanently eliminating traditional physical ID.
The digital ecology of NADRA relies heavily on Pak Identity. It has a variety of functions, including biometric fingerprints, face recognition, and a document scanner, and allows users to apply for CNICs online.
