On the International Day of Education 2025, the theme “AI and Education: Preserving Human Agency in a World of Automation” highlights the need to balance technological advancement with the core values of education. While AI has the potential to transform learning through personalized experiences and real-time assessments, it is crucial to ensure that human judgment and the role of educators remain central in shaping the learning process.

As technology continues to influence education, this year’s International Day of Education brings attention to the importance of preserving human agency in the face of automation. Education is not just about delivering knowledge but also about fostering critical thinking, creativity, and moral values—traits that are uniquely human. As AI becomes more integrated into educational systems, it is essential to find ways to harness its benefits without overshadowing these foundational aspects of learning.

In light of this, a critical webinar titled “Strengthening Foundational Learning and Assessments: Challenges and New Pathways” will take place on January 27, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This webinar will feature national and global experts who will discuss the challenges of foundational learning, share best practices, and explore actionable solutions for Pakistan and other Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs).

The webinar will focus on how AI can enhance assessments and learning outcomes while ensuring that human connection remains at the heart of education. Experts will explore how to use AI to support teachers, improve learning outcomes, and provide instant feedback, all while preserving the human aspect of teaching. Discussions will also address how AI can be leveraged to address the challenges faced by LMICs in providing quality foundational education.
