According to a news statement published by the institution, Ghulam Ghous, a student from the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) in Lahore, has been selected by Google to participate in the Google Summer of Code Program 2021.
The Google Summer of Code programme is a global initiative that teaches students how to create open source software.
Ghaus, who is now pursuing his degree at UET Lahore’s Computer Science Department, has been nominated for Rocket.”Omnichannel Chat’s Project: Live Chat Widget — Accessible Mode.”
In the field of technology, the Omnichannel project is specially created for persons with impairments.
According to the specifics, the Google initiative will create a user-accessible mode that would allow those with disabilities to use the widget’s fascinating features.
This year, 4,795 students from 103 countries applied to participate in the programme, resulting in a total of 6,991 applications. A total of 1292 students from 69 countries were chosen from these applications and pupils.
Every year, between 4 to 6 Pakistani students are chosen for GSoC, and Ghulam Ghous has been chosen to work on this project alongside two other Pakistani students this year.
