Prime Minister Imran Khan was shown a demonstration of a cutting-edge two-way electronic voting machine at the PM Office in Islamabad on Tuesday. The suggested e-voting equipment, which is used in many nations across the world, makes soft and hard copies of the vote paper to ensure transparency in the political process, according to details.
In February of this year, the Ministry of Science and Technology stated that the National Institute of Electronics (NIE) had created an e-voting system in partnership with the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) and COMSATS University.
Fawad Chaudhry, the Federal Minister for Science and Technology, gave Prime Minister Imran Khan a demonstration of the electronic voting equipment earlier this month.
During the general elections, the Science and Technology Minister declared that the locally-made e-voting machine will end rigging and assure impartiality and transparency.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has been working to implement an electronic voting system before the next general election in order to maintain fairness and openness.
PM Imran had pledged electoral reforms for free and fair elections in the country in November 2020. The reforms included an electronic voting system for general elections, open voting by show of hands during Senate elections, and the ability for Pakistanis living abroad to vote.
