A startup event in Karachi is incomplete without the Big Bird at The Nest I/O and President Pakistan Software House Association (P@SHA) Jehan Ara.
Jehan Ara started with what she feels about the startups and where they’re going, with light on the local industry’s successes like those of SoloInsight, Farhan Masood among others.
Jehan Ara also proudly shared that competing with 18 of the most tech savvy economies, Pakistan stood second at APICTA 2016, which stands as a big milestone for the local ICT industry.
Speaking on the topic ‘Startups in Pakistan – The Present and The Future’, she said:
The startup community is very strong and binding this together is what’s most important if we want our startups to progress; that sense of community and support.
Other important areas that she highlighted included mentors and their role in the development of startups, investment ecosystem which is still at a nascent stage and of course drawing it back to all elements that make up the community.
Towards the end of her talk, Jehan Ara was awarded a ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ by Momentum, with Mr. Amer Hashmi, Mr. Armughan from DELL, Mr. Humayun Bashir and Mr. Asif Jafri.
