Science and Information Technology Department, Government of Sindh, has organised a series of artificial intelligence focused engagements aimed at building a future ready workforce and strengthening collaboration between academia and industry. The initiative brought together technology leaders, academic institutions, and development organisations to explore the practical integration of artificial intelligence across sectors in Sindh.
The sessions were conducted at RapidCompute in Karachi, Sindh Rural Support Organization, Sukkur IBA University, and The Shaikh Ayaz University Shikarpur, along with an engagement hosted by the Science and Information Technology Department itself. Each session focused on the transformative potential of artificial intelligence, with discussions centred on bridging the gap between academic research and real world industry applications. Participants examined how emerging technologies can be deployed to improve operational efficiency, enhance service delivery, and support innovation driven growth in both urban and rural settings.
By engaging with a diverse group of stakeholders, the department sought to ensure that artificial intelligence tools and knowledge are accessible beyond conventional technology hubs. The inclusion of rural development organisations highlighted the importance of extending digital capabilities to underserved communities, enabling data driven decision making and improved programme implementation. Similarly, collaboration with universities emphasised the need to align curriculum, research priorities, and skill development initiatives with evolving industry requirements.
The initiative reflects a broader commitment to advancing Pakistan’s artificial intelligence ecosystem through coordinated efforts with federal partners including the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication Pakistan and Pakistan Software Export Board under the leadership of Shahbaz Hameed. By facilitating structured dialogue between policymakers, academia, and the private sector, the Government of Sindh aims to cultivate innovation, encourage knowledge transfer, and prepare students and professionals for the demands of a rapidly evolving digital economy.
