OnePlus has confirmed that it is developing a new Turbo line of smartphones with a strong emphasis on gaming performance and extended battery life, signaling a new direction within its product portfolio. The announcement was made by OnePlus President Li Jie through a post on the Chinese social media platform Weibo, where he shared early details about the positioning and intent behind the upcoming series. According to Li, the OnePlus Turbo smartphones are designed to inherit the performance characteristics typically associated with the company’s flagship devices, suggesting a focus on raw power rather than the value oriented approach seen in the Nord lineup.

In his post, Li repeatedly referenced gaming performance, highlighting it as a core pillar of the Turbo series. While he included qualifiers such as performance within its price range and class, the repeated emphasis indicates that OnePlus is targeting users who prioritize sustained performance for demanding workloads, particularly mobile gaming. This places the Turbo series in a distinct category, separate from mainstream flagships and budget focused models. Although the company is unlikely to position these devices directly against premium gaming focused phones such as Asus ROG models, the Turbo series could compete with devices like RedMagic offerings, which aim to deliver top tier performance at a more accessible price point. This approach aligns with OnePlus’s broader strategy of balancing power and pricing to appeal to performance conscious users.

Beyond performance, battery life appears to be a defining feature of the upcoming Turbo lineup. Li stated that the new phones will offer the strongest battery life in their class, reinforcing the idea that endurance will be a key selling point. Battery performance has already become a standout area for OnePlus, particularly with the recent launch of the OnePlus 15, which features a 7,300mAh battery paired with software optimizations that deliver notably long usage times. That device demonstrated how efficient tuning can significantly enhance real world stamina, even without pushing battery capacity to extreme levels.

However, early industry chatter suggests that OnePlus may be preparing to go much further with the Turbo series. Well known tipster Smart Pikachu has claimed that the OnePlus Turbo devices could feature batteries exceeding 9,000mAh, a figure that would place them among the largest capacity smartphones currently discussed in the market. If accurate, this would represent a substantial leap in battery size, particularly for a phone that also aims to deliver high performance gaming capabilities. Such a combination would appeal to users who engage in extended gaming sessions, streaming, and heavy multitasking without frequent access to charging.

Li’s wording in the announcement suggests that the OnePlus Turbo series is nearing launch, indicating that official specifications and pricing details may be revealed soon. While exact timelines were not disclosed, the phrasing points to an announcement in the near term rather than a long term concept. In the meantime, OnePlus is preparing for another product release, with the OnePlus 15R scheduled to launch on December 17. The 15R is expected to serve as a more affordable alternative within the flagship lineup, offering another option for users seeking high end features at a lower price.

Together, these developments indicate that OnePlus is expanding its smartphone range to address more specialized user segments. With the Turbo series, the company appears to be targeting gamers and power users who value sustained performance and battery longevity, while continuing to support mainstream and value focused audiences through other product lines.
