Dawn is hosting a video story contest in Pakistan, inviting everyone to pick up their camera and record stories around the country that move them. The video stories can range from stories of compassion, bravery and identity, cases of prejudice, injustice and sacrifice, celebrations in the form of new and ancient traditions to profiles of young and old heroes.
The video story competition titled It Happens Only in Pakistan is to award Rs 1.5 million rupees worth of prizes to the winners. The first, second and third place winners are to receive Rs. 500,000, Rs. 350,000, and Rs. 250,000 respectively. There are two other awards as well such as the Judge’s Honorable Mention Prizes, where there are two prizes of Rs 150,000 each and Social Media Prize with two prizes of Rs50000 each.

The jury members for the video contest include Filmmaker and Director, Jami, Producer and Director Babar Sheikh, Editor Dawn.com Jahanzaib Haque, and Head of Urdu Service DW Kishwar Mustafa.
The entries for the competition are now open till the 4th of May 2018. Anyone is interested in taking part please read through the submission process and video production rules carefully before applying. You can choose whether you are participating in the video story contest or social media contest.

The eligibility criteria for the competition are: The competition is open for individuals of all ages, gender, and nationalities. Individuals can participate as teams; however each participant can be a part of only one team. Entry is prohibited to employees of, or consultants to DAWN and DW or their immediate family members. The entries should be original and CANNOT be a work of fiction. The footage/photos should be from Pakistan only. All footage in the video must be shot between March 23 and May 4, 2018. The winners will be announced at the end of May 2018 at the contest website and Dawn.com
