NUST Industrial Design alumna, Maryam Abbas, achieved a remarkable milestone in her career and for Pakistani design by receiving the esteemed Muse Design Award for her thesis project, NEUROCLE. As the “Silver Winner,” she became the first Pakistani student to achieve this honor.
The Muse Design Award is an international competition hosted by the International Awards Associates (IAA), which recognizes exceptional accomplishments in various design disciplines and celebrates outstanding talent and creative innovations.
Maryam Abbas’ NEUROCLE project stood out among the submissions by addressing a critical gap in the market for therapeutic toys. NEUROCLE is a therapy aid designed to cater to the specific needs of children with hemiplegic cerebral palsy. This tool assists affected children in enhancing their posture, grip strength, muscle development, and gross and fine motor skills.
The Muse Design Award program, established in 2015 by IAA, aims to promote excellence and creativity within the global design community. It sets a new standard of excellence in media design production and distribution, honoring, encouraging, and promoting creativity. The MUSE Design Awards specifically recognize groundbreaking designs, exceptional talent, and innovative creations across diverse design disciplines.
These awards celebrate designers who challenge conventional wisdom, showcasing their impressive creativity and meticulous work that redefines genres and fields of study, acting as a muse. The MUSE Awards applaud individuals who express themselves freely and utilize their entire being to create extraordinary works. They set higher standards and provide a reference for others to follow.
MUSE represents a destination for those who transcend the ordinary, boldly expressing themselves amidst challenges and unpredictability. The MUSE Awards acknowledge and appreciate individuals who use their unrestrained expressions to influence the world we live in today.
