With the count of the Corona virus victims reaching an unprecedented amount in the country, it has become the responsibility of citizens in Pakistan to either make sure they and their family stay safe, or look for ways to counteract the virus. In an effort to make sure the state can control and monitor the spread of the virus while moving on with everyday lives, the Government of Sindh have announced a collaboration with AKUH to train health care workers for Covid-19 through the use of technology.
The Government of Sindh have announced their collaboration with Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) in an effort to provide free training and technical assistance to healthcare workers in the country. This service aims to accommodate professionals working in the public sector to provide them with the necessary and critical care to combat Covid-19 patients. This program is known as the Tele-ICU consultation service. This was launched this month to help these healthcare workers from across Sindh treat coronavirus patients through the process of consultation. Patients now have access to consulting experts who can guide them throughout the entire process.
Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho, Sindh Health and Population Welfare Minister, was noted to have spoken on this issue and said: “We need allies like AKUH to help us tackle the challenge of Covid-19… Joining hands with experts in the field will help create a stronger health system that can provide the best quality care to our people in these difficult times”. Also speaking on this matter, Dr Adil Haider, who serves as the dean of the AKUH medical college, highlighted that the consultation service is an effective way to showcase how technology can improve the healthcare system. He added to this by stating: “Together, by extending our knowledge and expertise to one another, we can beat Covid-19 in Pakistan”. These professionals can now also learn ventilator management of coronavirus patients as well from the hospital.
