The 11th edition of the Pakistan School on Internet Governance (PKSIG) is scheduled to be held in Sukkur from October 20 to 23, 2025. Organized by a team of volunteers led by Parvez Iftikhar, the annual program is supported by a strong lineup of international and local partners, including ISOC Foundation, ISOC, ICANN, Meta (Facebook), and Google on the global side, as well as PTA, Ministry of IT and Telecom (MoIT), nCERT, Higher Education Commission (HEC), and Cybernet locally. PKSIG has established itself as one of the country’s leading platforms for dialogue, training, and knowledge-sharing on the key issues surrounding internet governance.
The event will run over three to four days, offering a comprehensive agenda that covers a wide range of pressing digital topics. Sessions are set to focus on internet governance frameworks, cybersecurity, cyber laws, digital rights, online businesses, privacy, and freedom, as well as cybercrime awareness and mitigation. Additionally, the program will guide participants on applying for international fellowships and capacity-building opportunities in the broader digital policy space. Over the years, PKSIG has traveled to major cities including Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar, Karachi, Quetta, Muzaffarabad, Gilgit, and Multan, bringing together diverse groups of students, professionals, policymakers, and civil society representatives to engage in collaborative discussions and skill development.
For the Sukkur edition, PKSIG organizers are inviting participants to apply through a competitive selection process. Interested candidates are encouraged to register at the official application portal by providing detailed information to strengthen their chances of being selected. In order to promote inclusivity, limited fellowships are being made available to selected applicants from Sindh’s interior regions, excluding Sukkur. This approach ensures that voices from underrepresented communities are also included in the national internet governance dialogue.
PKSIG’s expansion into Sukkur is a continuation of its mission to build capacity and awareness at the regional level, empowering participants to better understand and influence the policies shaping Pakistan’s digital landscape. By combining expertise from local stakeholders and international organizations, the program offers participants not only theoretical knowledge but also practical insights into current challenges and future opportunities in digital governance. With its collaborative design and strong support base, PKSIG 2025 in Sukkur is set to provide a valuable platform for knowledge exchange and capacity-building, strengthening Pakistan’s ability to shape its digital future responsibly and inclusively.
