Pakistan has one of the largest freelancing communities in the world. In order to grow the industry and facilitate the freelancers, the Ministry of IT and Telecom has launched Digiskills.pk. The website is an initiative to train over one million individuals.
The website is to provide online training of these freelance professionals and encourages moderated group discussions, guided reading, reflection, self-directed exploration, and hands-on creation.
Furthermore, the DigiSkills.pk training program is funded and powered by Ignite, formerly National ICT R&D Fund. The Virtual University is responsible for the execution, meanwhile the MCOM looks after the advertising and promotion and Semiotics handles the onsite technical monitoring and analytics of the project.
The aim of the project is to change the education system in Pakistan by using online technology to provide knowledge and skills free of cost to every citizen of Pakistan.
The courses on Digiskills.pk are delivered by professional instructors. The courses offered on the platform are: Freelancing, E-Commerce Management, Digital Marketing, Digital Literacy, QuickBooks, AutoCAD, WordPress, Graphics Design, Creative Writing, and SEO.
The program not only develops key specialized skills, but also imparts knowledge about various freelancing and other employment and entrepreneurial opportunities that are available internationally and locally.
