PITB Approached By Federal Health Minister To Set Up Automated Systems In The Capital

Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) Chairman Umer Saif and his team have been invited by the Federal Minister for National Health Services Aamer Mehmood Kiani to automate the federal health setup and introduce innovative technologies.

At the meeting, Dr. Saif briefed the Minister about multiple successful initiatives that have been implemented by PITB in Punjab, primarily focusing on Hospital Information Management System (HIMS). According to him, the system has reduced the load on big hospitals such as PIMS and Polyclinic and has successfully been implemented in 25 DHQs in Punjab.

At the meeting, he also proposed to automate the managing of the workflow of patients as a key factor to reduce the patient load. The innovative efforts implemented by PITB were appreciated by the federal minister. He encouraged the PITB team to work with the Federal Health Setup in order to improve access of common man to best health facilities.

A commitment has been made to ensure that all the health facilities in Islamabad will be integrated using state of the art technologies. As per the agreement, information technology integrated ambulance system and bed registry will also be established in the capital city.
