Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui in a meeting with the Senate Standing Committee on Information Technology announced that the government is planning to establish a Cyber Security Authority to deal with cyber threats.
“The government is cognizant of security threats and working on a plan to establish a Cyber Security Authority to deal with such kinds of threats,” he added.
On Wednesday, the committee had also met with Rubina Khalid in the chair where parliamentarians asked what kind of protective measures have been taken in case of cyber-attacks. To which the Minister answered that in collaboration with all stakeholders, a comprehensive plan is to soon be devised in this regard as future wars could involve the internet.
Furthermore, Secretary IT, Maroof Afzal, speaking on the occasion said that an iron curtain is next to impossible with innovations in IT and telecom, but stringent steps have been taken to meet modern world threats.
