It’s flagship Android phone launch season once again, and Vivo has just revealed the launch date for its BMW-branded top-tier phones, just in time. On February 23, the iQOO 9 series will be available in the global market.

Vivo’s connection with BMW M Motorsport will continue, and the iQOO 9 will include racing stripes on the rear, exactly like prior iterations. The iQOO 9 series will feature the standard iQOO 9, the iQOO 9 Pro, and a less expensive iQOO 9 SE with somewhat less powerful hardware.

Similar to the Galaxy S22 and Xiaomi 12 series, the Vivo series will be Vivo’s first Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 powered phones. The selection is already complete in China, but the iQOO 9 is now available in the United States.

Specifications

Because of the introduction in China, we already know the specs. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC is used in both the iQOO 9 and 9 Pro, although the Pro variant has a superior display. Owing to LTPO technology, it uses less power and offers improved colour fidelity thanks to 10-bit colour capability. The Pro variant also has HDR10+ and 2K resolution, whilst the iQOO 9 is limited to 1080p.

AMOLED screens with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate are used on both phones, although the Pro phone features curved sides. In addition, the iQOO 9 Pro has a significantly improved camera with gimbal stabilisation and quicker charging technology.

The iQOO 9 SE, on the other hand, will be a completely new model that has yet to be revealed. To keep prices low, it will have a more limited set of requirements. It’s possible that the SD8G1 chip will be replaced by the SD888, although this is only conjecture at this point.

Stay tuned for additional information during the coming week.
