These days a simple text message does not suffice until and unless one sends an emoji as an expression. In fact, emojis have become synonymous to words, especially since 2015 when Oxford Dictionary Word of the Year 2015 turned out to be an emoji!
While there seems to be a varying range of emojis that are available to the public such the dancing lady in red, the poop emoji, different smiley faces, vehicles and flags of all sorts. Also, WhatsApp added different skin tones to their various emojis earlier in 2016.
Now to expand the world of emojis, Unicode Consortium has approved 51 new emojis that include the hijab emoji, a muslim prayer emoji, a woman breastfeeding a baby, a bearded man and a woman practicing yoga.
The hijab emoji was first proposed by a 15 year old Muslim girl who had submitted a proposal to Unicode.
These emojis are said to be encoded in to the Unicode 10 next year, but it is also worth mentioning that not all may be added to the final version of Unicode 10.
